Accreditation

Imedex, LLC is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.be.

11th European Congress: Perspectives in Lung Cancer is designated for a maximum of 12 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that she/he actually spent in the educational activity.

EACCME credits are recognized by the American Medical Association toward the Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA).

Instructions for converting EACCME Credit to
AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM

To apply for conversion of EACCME credit to AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM, the attendee must complete the Application for EACCME Credit Conversion at www.ama-assn.org and submit the following:
(1) the completed application by fax or mail
(2) along with a copy of the EACCME credit certificate and
(3) processing fee ($20 for AMA members, $40 for non-members).

A certificate of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM will be mailed within 4 weeks. If the physician/attendee has further questions, they may contact the AMA’s CPPD at pra@ama-assn.org

 

Who Should Attend

This educational activity is intended for oncologists, thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, researchers, physicians-in-training and other healthcare professionals interested and/or involved in the care of patients with thoracic malignancies.

 

Objectives

After successfull completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the use of biomarkers to predict the efficacy of EGFR-inhibitors, antiangiogenic therapies and antineoplastic agents in the treatment of patients with lung cancer
  • Describe the emerging role of targeted therapies, specifically epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors, in the treatment of thoracic malignancies
  • Describe the epidemiology of lung cancer and evaluate emerging screening techniques
  • Compare and contrast invasive versus non-invasive (MRI, CT, PET) procedures in the staging of lung cancer
  • Discuss surgical issues and controversies related to the management and treatment of thoracic malignancies
  • Examine the role of radiotherapy and emerging radiotherapeutic techniques in lung cancer
  • Outline treatment options for front line metastatic non small cell lung cancer
  • Translate the results of recent clinical trials in lung cancer and incorporate them into clinical practice
  • Discuss current methods for diagnosing, staging, and treating mesothelioma
